The Best Fonts for a Resume (and Which to Avoid)

Your font won't get you hired, but the wrong one can get you skimmed past. Pick clean, standard, and readable.

Best fonts

Calibri, Arial, Helvetica, Roboto, Georgia, and Garamond all parse cleanly and read well on screen and print.

Fonts to avoid

Times New Roman looks dated, and decorative or script fonts (Comic Sans, Papyrus, thin display fonts) hurt readability and credibility.

Size & spacing

  • Body text: 10–12pt
  • Headings: 12–16pt
  • Consistent line spacing (1.0–1.15)

One font is enough

Use a single font family with weight/size for hierarchy. Every Zesume template ships with an ATS-safe font already set.
